Three, including young couple, shot at while on way to get married
New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Three people, including a young couple who were on their way to get married, were shot at and wounded in a firing by one of the girl's relatives in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi this afternoon.
The assailant Sonu, who was accompanied by six other people in a car and a motorcycle, is a cousin of the 21-year-old girl, Raj, said a senior police official.
A resident of Madan Park in Punjabi Bagh, Raj was on her way to marry her suitor Bhupinder when they were shot at, along with a friend Brahm Singh who was driving the car, he said.
Sonu first stopped the car Raj and Bhupinder (26) were travelling in close to ESI Hospital on Ring Road at about 1330 hrs and argued with them as the family was against the match.
He later fired at all the three. While two shots hit the girl, Bhupinder escaped as the bullet merely grazed past him.
''Both were admitted to the D D U Hospital and are said to be stable.'' Their friend Brahm Singh, who was critically injured in the shootout, has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.
Police said they were trying to nab Sonu who was absconding.
