Third rural sports conclude in HP

Kullu, Oct 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has reiterated his government's resolve to create necessary sports infrastructure in the rural areas and said providing adequate rural infrastructure would help in identifying talent in the rural areas of the state.

Presiding over the third rural sports festival here last evening, he said adequate sports infrastructure in the rural areas was the need of the hour with majority of the state's population residing there.

Mr Singh said the idea behind organising rural sports during the Dussehra Festival was to provide an opportunity to the rural youth to excel in various sports besides promoting taking the sports to the rural people.

He also announced the construction of a pavilion and 24 room rest house at an estimated cost of Rs 1.68 crore here to facilitate the organising of rural sports, he said.

The construction of the pavilion would also provided more space for organising Kullu Dussehra Festival, which also concluded yesterday, he added.
