Praxair India commissions VPSA oxygen plant for Reliance
Bangalore, Oct 9 (UNI) The city-based Praxair India has successfully commissioned a VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) plant to supply gaseous oxygen to the Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG-1) plant at the Hazira Petrochemicals complex of Reliance Industries Limited.
The plant had a contractual capacity of 106 metric tonnes per day, the company said in a release here today.
Praxair's VPSA plant used patented radial adsorber bed that led to a high level of reliability and efficiency. The oxygen supplied by this VPSA plant would go towards increasing RIL's production capacity of purified terephthalic acid and vinyl chloride monomer by enrichment of air. Besides, the VPSA oxygen would reduce manufacturing costs for Reliance, the release said.
Praxair had earlier in 2003 supplied a similar VPSA unit for Reliance's MEG-1 plant.
Praxair India recently commissioned an 875-tonnes per day plant for Tata Steels in Jamshedpur. It had also executed a number of other major Indian projects, including two 2,500 tonnes per day cryogenic oxygen plants for Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Ltd and additional plants for Kalyani Steels, Saint Gobain Glass India and Haldia Petrochemicals. It had also installed innovative non-cryogenic on-site plants for customers such as Usha Martin, Timken, Epcos Ferrites and Sundaram Fasteners, the release said.
