Poet stabs postman to death in Doda

Bhaderwah, Oct 9 (UNI) A postman was stabbed to death by an Urdu poet here today over a land dispute in Doda district, sources said.

''A known local urdu poet Sagar Sahrai (real name Abdul Qayoom Ganai) first threatened one postman, Abdul Majid Zargar (57), in the court room at Bhaderwah and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon while Zargar was on his way back to his residence,'' sources told UNI.

Zargar, who was seriously wounded, was rushed to the hospital but the doctors pronounced dead on arrival, sources added.

SSP, Doda district, Manohar Singh, while confirming the incident, said the land dispute was the reason behind the murder.

''The killer has been arrested by the police'' he said.
