Planning Commission sanctions Rs 100 cr for Shiv Chhatrapati Complex

Pune, Oct 9 (UNI) The Planning Commission has sanctioned Rs 100 crore for Sports Infrastructure at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex and directed that city's Infrastructure projects of about Rs 500 crore be funded through the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the Youth Commonwealth Games to be held in the city in October 2008.

Chairman, Organising Committee for Commonwealth Youth Games, Pune 2008, Suresh Kalmadi in a statement said that the decisions were taken after the visit of the Inter-Ministerial Team under chairmanship of A N P Sinha, Advisor Planning Commission and representatives of the Urban Development Ministry, Union Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India and the Organising Committee of Delhi 2010. The team visited Pune on September five, this year to examine the Infrastucture Project for the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The Planning Commission has sanctioned Rs 100 crore for Sports Infrastructure at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, here while funds under JNNURM include over Rs 270 crore for roads, flyovers, tunnels and subways and over Rs 195 crore for public transport.
