K'taka takes precautionary measures to prevent dengue

Bangalore, Oct 9 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has taken all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of dengue, State Health Minister R Ashok said informed today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said no case of the viral disease had been reported in Karnataka so far. Doctors have collected blood samples of a child reportedly suferring from dengue in Gulbarga and sent it to Victoria hospital for confirmation.

The Minister said following prevalence of dengue in various parts of the country, necessary action had been taken by the state health authorities to prevent it. To check the menace of mosquitoes, the carriers of the killer virus, fogging machines were being supplied to districts. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had promised to release funds for the purchase of fogging machines, he added.

Mr Ashok announced the Karnataka government had convened a state level meeting of all district and taluk medical officers on October 13 to chalk out various precautionary measures.
