Hold Datta Jayanthi, Urs together: K'taka Minister

Bangalore, Oct 9 (UNI) Karnataka Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy today said he would suggest to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to hold both Datta Jayanti celebrations and Urs by Hindus and Muslims respectively at the controversial Bababudangiri hills in Chikmagalur district.

Talking to reporters here, he said the suggestion, though not a new one, was the only way out to resolve the issue. He was for promoting religious harmony between Hindus and Muslims at the Datta Peetha.

To a question, the Minister said the district administration had been given full powers to take appropriate action depending on the local conditions to maintain law and order.
