Goods train derails
Visakhapatnam, Oct 9 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Kothavalasa-Kirandul section was suspended following the derailment of the engine and five rakes of a goods train between Kirandul and Bacheli last night.
According to railway officials the derailment was caused due to removal of lines for a stretch of 30 metres allegedly by the banned CPI(Maoists).
They said the engine driver failed to notice that the railway track was removed.
All goods trains were diverted via Koraput-Rayagada route, following the incident.
Work on restoration of track was completed this afternoon, the officials said, adding that railway police personnel were posted at sensitive points along the Kirandul line as a precautonary measure.
