Flood situation improves in West Bengal
Kolkata, Oct 9 (UNI) The Flood situation in West Bengal, that has claimed 142 lives, has improved further, State Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta said.
Talking to reporters after a meeting with officials of various flood affected districts at the writers, Mr Dasgupta said state government has decided to allocate Rs 300 crore of rehabilitation for the flood affected people.
He said Rs 100 crore would be spent only on rebuilding the damaged houses.
He said state government would continue sending relief materials to the affected people and banks have directyed to convert the loans into long term loans.
Overall 83 lakh people have been affected due to the floods in the state and around 142 have died.
Medical team of 942 doctors are working round the clock to monitor the diarrhoea outbreak.
