CPI(M) to prevent split of secular votes: Yechury
Bhopal, Oct 9 (UNI) Ahead of assembly polls in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, CPI(M) Polit Bureu Member Sitaram Yechury today said his party will attempt to prevent a division of secular votes in order to stop communal forces from coming to power.
''The BJP and the RSS are not just against the nation's unity but also against its development. Secular parties need to come together in order to prevent such forces from growing,'' he told reporters here.
He felt no possibility an alliance existed between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh.
The CPI(M) leader said his party will consider forging an alliance with the SP in that state, but added that no decision had been taken yet.
