Chikungunya toll touches 100 in Cherthala
Alappuzha, Oct 9 (UNI) The death toll in the suspected Chikungunya fever touched 100 with two more deaths reported in the Cherthala taluk here today.
While Devaki (71) of Mararikulam Pancahyat died at the Medical Hospital here, Shankarakutty(85) from Kanzhikuzhy Panchayat died at his residence.
According to sources, more than 2000 patients visits the Out-Patient Department of the Cherthala Government Hospital daily for treatment.
Around 1000 people suffering from high fever and other symptoms of Chikungunya today consulted doctors at the Thuravoor Community Health Centre, sources added.
