Chickungunya, Chennithala seeks more assistance from Centre

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Ramesh Chennithala today sought the intervention of party president Sonia Gandhi to get substantial assistance from the Centre for tackling Chickungunya which had already claimed a 100 lives in the state.

During his 20-minute-long meeting at her official 10 Janpath residence, he impressed upon Ms Gandhi the need to implement a health package for the state in the context of the spread of the disease and number of persons affected by it.

Mr Chennithala said he had made a strong case for setting up a regional laboratory in Kerala.

He asked Ms Gandhi to ensure the Centre announces assistance to the family of those killed due to chickungunya.
