Hyderabad, Oct 9 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that both the Central and State Governments had failed to control vector-borne diseases like Dengue and Chikungunya.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the administration was playing with the lives of the poor and it amounted to violation of human rights. They did not even have statistics on the magnitude of the spread of disease, he added.

Mr Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had a contingency plan to meet the spread of seasonal diseases and alleged that the present Congress Government had failed to implement it.

TDP had brought the seriousness of the Chikungunya outbreak to the notice of the government, he said and added that instead of responding positively, it started a counter attack.

Mr Naidu said one crore people were affected by Chikungunya in the state and claimed he had evidence that 551 had died. The government had not responded even when the TDP conducted medical camps and rendered help to one lakh patients, he said.

Criticising Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy for not appointing a Minister for the Health Department, Mr Naidu said it reflected his gross negligence of public health. He wanted Mr Reddy to appoint a Minister immediately and tackle the crisis on a war footing.
