Vector-borne diseases show rise in Surat
Surat, Oct 8 (UNI) The number of dengue cases reported here in the current fiscal has shown a remarkable increase as against last year, vector-borne diseases control department of the Surat Municipal Corporation has said.
The total number of dengue cases reported from January to September this year is 239 as compared to 188 cases last year.
In August last year, 27 cases of dengue were reported in the city as against 94 cases in the corresponding period this year.
Similarly, 61 dengue cases were reported last month while the number stood at 32 during the same period last year.
SMC health commissioner Dr I C Patel said the civic body has been taking a number of measures to eliminate both aedes and anopheles mosquitos in the city.
