Three killed, 20 injured in road accident

Manjeri, Kerala, Oct 8 (UNI) Three people, including a 70-year-old woman were killed and 20 others injured, four of them seriously, in a road accident involving three vehicles at Thrikkalamkode, near here today.

Police said the deceased were identified as Biyyumma, her grand son Bava (20) and driver of a jeep Mathew, all belonging from Cudalore in Tamil Nadu.

The tragedy occured when the jeep, in which they were proceeding to Puthananthani to attend the funeral of their relative, collided with a mini-lorry, which later dashed against a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus.

The seriously injured Jamshid, Ummukulsu, Fathima and Faslu, passengers in the ill-fated jeep, were admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, police added.
