Security beefed up in Bagdogra airport
Siliguri, Oct 08 (UNI) Based on an alert sounded by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security following threats from a terror outfit, the security arrangement of Bagdogra Air Port has been beefed up.
Two trained sniffer dogs have been deployed on the airport. A high alert has been sounded at Bagdogra airport after intelligence inputs warned that terrorists might attempt to hijack an aircraft.
Intelligence input suggested that Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba might be involved in this.
Commandant of SSB Gyan Sing Sayana said,''Based on the decision of airport authority we have sent two dogs to look for the explosives.'' However, the CISF is highly equipped to protect the airport and further tightened the security of the airport.
After the alert was sounded by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security airport authority would not like to take any risk as the threats came from the terror outfit. So to beef up the security arrangement of the airport two sniffer dogs had been posted here, said the director of Bagdogra airport, S.P.Modi.
