Security beefed up at Bagdogra airport
Siliguri, Oct 8 (UNI) Based on an alert sounded by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security following threats from a terror outfit, security at Bagdogra Airport has been beefed up.
Two trained sniffer dogs have been deployed on the airport.
A high alert has been sounded at the airport after intelligence inputs warned that terrorists might attempt to hijack an aircraft.
Intelligence input suggested that Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba might be involved in this.
Commandant of SSB Gyan Sing Sayana said,''Based on the decision of airport authority we have sent two dogs to look for the explosives.'' After the alert was sounded by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security airport authorities would not like to take any risk as the threats came from a terror outfit. Therefore, to beef up the security arrangement at the airport two sniffer dogs had been posted here, said the airport director S P Modi.
