SEC restricts publishing of exit poll, opinion poll

Chennai, Oct 8 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission (SEC) had issued a restriction on publishing any result of opinion poll conducted at any time by any print or electronic media after 1700 hrs on October nine, till the closing of poll at 1700 hrs for the Madurai Central constituency on October 11.

An official release from the SEC said no result of any exit poll would also be allowed to be published or disseminated at any time from 0700 hrs on October 11 till the close of poll at 1700 hrs on the same day.

It also issued orders that the electors, who had been issued their Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) have to produce them to exercise their franchise in the bypoll.

For those, who had not yet obtained their EPICs, the Commission would permit original documents of passports, driving licence issued upto August 31, 2006, PAN card or any other valid documents, which the SEC had earlier approved.
