Prisoner asks for Bapu's autobiography
Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) Impressed by Mahatma Gandhi's ideals, an inmate of Arthur Road Prison here has asked for 'My Experiments with Truth' the autobiography of the Father of the Nation.
In a letter to Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal, a Gandhian organisation, Idris A Saiyad, lodged in high security cell of Arthur Road prison, has requested a copy of the book by post, a release said.
Saiyad wrote to Mandal, ''I am glad to learn from newspapers that you have organised sale of books on Mahatma Gandhi. I wish to purchase Bapu's autobiography 'My Experiments with Truth' (Gujarati Version).'' A volunteer of the Mandal will visit the jail and present the book free of cost to Saiyad and will also offer the book free to any other prisoner if they were keen to read the book. The Mandal will also propose to organise a show of 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' and the Gandhi Peace Exam in jails like Arthur Road, Byculla, Thane, Kalyan in Mumbai and Dhule, Bhandara and Yeravda in Maharashtra, the release added.
