NEDFi to develop NE agriculture marketing sector

Itanagar, Oct 08 (UNI) North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) chairman K N Hazarika has urged the financial institutions to develope the agriculture marketing sector in the North Eastern region.

Mr Hazarika at a meeting with the representatives of ITC Hyderabad, NABARD, state government officials, progressive farmers and NGOs here urged for proper post harvest management by involving communities and institutions for effective value chain management to develop agri-marketing linkage.

ITC, which had been engaged in agriculture business on contact farming basis, was looking forward to the NE agricultural fields for production of ginger, turmeric, orange, pineapple, chilli and joha rice, sources said.

The meeting also decided to develop a data bank of the ITC identified products to test whether the products meet their required standards, sources added.
