Mizoram bypolls on Oct 30

Aizawl, Oct 8 (UNI) The Election Commission has announced bypolls for Mizoram's Thungvel and Chawngte Assembly seats to be held on October 30.

The resignation of ruling Mizo National Front Chawngte MLA Rakesh Mohan Chakma over the office of profit issue and the demise of Thungvel MLA had neccesitated the bypolls, official sources said.

According to EC officials, the last date for filing nominations is October 13 and that of withdrawal is October 16.

The vote counting is scheduled for November 2 and the election process would be over by November 3.
