Jaya blames CM for election campaign violence
Madurai, Oct 8 (UNI) AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa today squarely blamed Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for the violence in the campaign for Assembly byelection, alleging that this was the result of the DMK patriarch's machinations to pass on the political mantle to his family members.
In a statement here after concluding her campaign in the city, she detailed the attacks on the party workers and claimed that cases were foisted on her party's frontline leaders and former ministers to cripple the organisation from carrying out election work.
The attack on party nominee for the bypoll V V Rajan Chellappa on Thursday, and the continuing violence let lose against the AIADMK was only the tip of the ice berg of the fascistic behaviour of the DMK Chief, she noted.
Former ministers and frontline leaders were being harassed by the police from engaging in election work, she alleged.
Reiterating charges made yesterday, the AIADMK supremo said no distinction could be made between the Chief Ministers' men, including his son M K Azhagiri and Dritarashtra, the father of the scheming Kauravas of Mahabharata.
