India to continue experiments, say Chappell, Dravid

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Stressing on the need to strengthen the squad, India coach Greg Chappell today said experimentations will not be done away with and the team will try different combinations against different opponents in the Champions Trophy.

''We look at different teams in different perspectives and will deploy different stratagies accordingly. I can't disclose the team's strategy but we will continue to try different things,'' Greg Chappell said in a media interaction here today.

''If a certain team feels a particular combination works for all oppositions equally successfully, good luck to them but we'll keep trying different things.'' That the policy fell flat in West Indies and later in Malaysia was not a matter of concern for the coach who said it was a part of developing a good squad for the future.

''Not just us, all three teams, including Australia, struggled in the tri-series in Malaysia. We are not overly concerned with what happened in the recent past. Its the furure we are concerned about.

We have to prepare, plan and execute accordingly,'' Chappell said.

''While doing so, we've certain things in mind. People, who are not privy to the decision making don't understand that but it's for well thoughtout reasons,'' he said explaining, ''like reshuffling the batting order gives valuable insights to the batsmen.'' He said he wanted to have a bunch of players who could adapt to different situations depending on team's requirement.

''You have to be adaptable to the situations. The group should be strong so that even if some players are out of form, others can make up,'' Chappell said and added, ''Its quite demanding but then playing at this level in itself is demanding.'' MORE UNI DH PM BS1801
