Devotees witness Garuda Seva festival in Tirumala

Tirumala (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 8: Thousands of devotees today witnessed the Garuda Seva festival observed on Pournami day at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.

The processional deity of Malayappa Swammy adorned with rare and precious jewels mounted atop the golden Garuda Vahanam, celestial carrier of Lord Maha Vishnu, taken out in a grand procession around the four mada streets, encircling in holy shrine in the night.

The sacred Lakshmi Haram, whose history is rooted deep in the legends and adorned only to the pressiding diety, also adorned the procession diety.

However, it is for the sixth time that Garuda Seva was performed at the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Pournami day.

It may recalled that Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD) Trust Board a couple of months ago had resolved to observe the Garuda Seva festival on every Pournami day throughout the year.

The former Chief Election Commissioner(CEC), TTD Executive Officer, APVN Sarma, Temple JEO Balaramaiah and others participated in the festival.
