Centre satisfied with J

Srinagar, Oct 8 (UNI) The Centre today expressed satisfaction over the reconstruction and rehabilitation work undertaken by the Jammu and Kashmir government, armed forces and national and international aid agencies in the earthquake-ravaged areas of the state.

Addressing a function here to mark the first anniversary of the October 8 devastating earthquake, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil assured full cooperation from the Centre to the Jammu and Kashmir government in the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.

''You move forward, the nation is with you,'' he told the people of Jammu and Kashmir while saluting them for bravely facing the natural calamity of such a huge magnitude.

Earlier addressing a public meeting in border area of Tangdhar in Kupwara district, Mr Patil hailed the Jammu and Kashmir government for rendering tireless service in the rehabilitation process of October 8 quake survivors.

The results of hard work put in by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his administration were visible on the ground, he added.

Mr Patil said the Centre would provide all assistance to the state government for reconstruction of quake- ravaged areas on modern lines and providing necessary relief to the survivors.

The Union Home Minister said he could feel the pain and trauma through which survivors had gone as he hailed from the area (Latur, Maharshtra) where the people suffered a lot due to the quake.

He expressed the hope that the relief provided to the affected for construction purposes would be strictly utilised for the same.
