Building collapses in Central Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 8 (UNI) The front portion of a dilapidated three-storey building in central Kolkata collapsed today after a bus lost control and hit its to front pillar.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service. No one was reported injured in the incident.

Special bulldozers were engaged to clear the rubble. The incident led to traffic snarls in the area, which houses Lalbazar, the city police headquarters.

Police have seized the bus, however, the driver managed to escape.

Meanwhile, fire broke out in a restuarant in south Kolkata area.

Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Initial investigations revealed that short circuit led to the fire. No one was injured in the incident, police said.
