Violent mob tries to torch MLA's residence

Araria, Oct 7 (UNI) An irate mob today attempted to torch the residence of BJP MLA Laxmi Narain Mehta in protest against the lynching of a truck driver last night.

Supporters of the BJP MLA had lynched the driver after their vehicle was hit by the truck resulting in injuries of the MLA's brother and three others.

Protesting against the killing of the driver, the local residents attacked the house of the MLA at Forbesgabj and tried to torch it, police said.

Later, the police used 'lathis' to disperse the violent mob.

Deputy Police Superintendent Jeetendra Mishra sustained minor injuries in the stone-pelting.

A case has been registered with the Forbesganj police station and raids were being carried out to nab the culprits, the police said.
