Ramadoss wrong on Chikungunya, Dengue
Puducherry, Oct 7: The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded that Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss should either be removed from the Cabinet or his portfolio should be changed for spreading wrong information about Chikungunya and Dengu fever.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP state president R Kesavalu said while the fact remained that many people had died of Chikungunya and Dengu in different parts of the country including Tamil Nadu, the minister had stated that people were not affected by the diseases.
In this circumstance, how could one believe his statement that the people of Puducherry and the employees of JIPMER would not be affected if autonomous status is granted to the institution, he added.
Mr Kesavalu exhorted the Congress, DMK and CPI to join hands with the political parties fighting against granting autonomy to JIPMER, though they are in another political front.
In the issue of privatisation of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, all the parties had joined hands to fight it, despite their ideological differences, he added.
