Rakhi's prog cancelled on Bajrang Dal protest

Indore, Oct 7: The district administration has cancelled the permission granted for the cultural programme of noted dancer Rakhi Sawant here tomorrow following protests by the Bajrang Dal.

Mr Manoj Varma, President of Malwa Ganesh Mandal, the organisers, said the administration had become a puppet in the hands of Bajrang Dal and a complaint in this regard would be submitted to Governor Balram Jakhar.

Mr Varma said cancelling the permission amounted to infringing cultural freedom. The local administration had not taken any action on destroying the programme's pamphlets by Bajrang Dal workers.

The organisers had already made it clear to Rakhi Sawant to strictly adhere to the cultural traditions and not display any vulgarity. Last year, Kanta Laga fame Shefali Jarriwala presented her programme, Mr Varma said, adding at least 25 prominent artistes presented their programmes in the last 19 years under the auspices of Ganesh Mandal.
