Hyderabad , Oct 7: Naandi Foundation, a city based Non- Governmental organisation (NGO) was short listed for One million dollar Alcan prize for Sustainability 2006 from a field of close to 200 applicants from 55 countries.

According to a statement issued here, the NGO was working to create farm-based livelihoods for small farmers living in eco-fragile regions by riverbanks and far-flung hilly forest regions.

The farmers were supported with river water irrigation achieved through revival of defunct irrigation projects of the government.

Naandi's end-to-end solutions have resulted in nearly 15,000 farmer families experiencing a three-fold increase in their average house hold income and reduced migration.
