NE militant hideouts busted in Dimapur
Kohima, Oct 07 (UNI) In a major breakthrough Dimapur police yesterday busted the hideouts of the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) arresting five persons in this connection.
Official sources said police raided a house in the Burma Camp area of Dimapur and arrested a AANLA cadre along with two Chinese grenades, one round each of 7.62 SLR and AK-47 bullets, a toy rifle, various demand notes served to Asom tea gardeners and receipts books.
The arrested AANLA cadre on interrogation revealed that AANLA had ties with KRA to train their cadres in the Singhashan Pahar in Asom's Karbi Anglong district against Rs 5000 per cadre a month.
He also said the two grenades, seized by the police, was procured from KRA at the cost of Rs 7000 each.
On informations provided by the arrested cadre, police raided another hideout in Half Nagarjan area of Dimapur town and arrested four KRA militants along with some incriminating documents.
The arrested KRA cadres confessed that they provided training to the AANLA cadres against payment.
Further investigation was on to apprehend all the members of the outfits in Dimapur.
The AANLA operates mainly in Asom's Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts while the KRA operates in Manipur.
Police is also investigating to find out the connection of the arrested cadres with the series of bomb blasts in Dimapur town in the last few months.
This is third such instance when Dimapur police has busted the camps of militant organizations active in the state.
Earlier, police had neutralized the hideout of Intelligence Wing of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) and also the camp of the Peoples United Liberation Front (PULF) in Dimapur.
