Js. Krishna Iyer hospitalised

Kochi, Oct 7 (UNI) Noted Jurist V R Krishna Iyer was admitted to the Medical Trust Hospital here early this morning after suffering a hairline fracture in his left arm and an injury to his lower back after slipping in his house.

Hospital sources said that Justice Krishna Iyer, 90, had undergone an MRI scan. He was admitted to the MTH at about 0300 hrs.

''The report of the MRI is awaited. He is suffering some pain,'' the sources said.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, who was in Kochi en route to attend a function at nearby Aluva, called on Justice Krishna Iyer this morning.

Visiting National Human Rights Commission Chairman A S Anand and Kerala High Court Chief Justice V K Bali also called on the former Supreme Court judge at the hospital in the afternoon.

Justice Krishna Iyer, a former Supreme Court judge, Kerala law minister and noted social and human rights activist, was rushed to the hospital after he slipped in his house at about 0230 hrs. today.
