Heritage complexes to be preserved

Jammu, Oct 7: The Jammu and Kashmir government has said all the historic heritage complexes of all three regions of the state will be preserved and renovated for tourism purpose.

While chairing a meeting of the standing committee Minister for Roads and Building Gulchain Singh Charak said the building and places of historic importance are to be protected.

He has also discussed strategies for restoration of pristine glory of historic Mubarak Mandi complex in Jammu city. He urged the concerned committee members and departments to ensure early commencement of work and finalization of consultants for the documentation and consultancy work on the historic heritage complexes within a fixed time frame.

Mr Charak also stressed on the need to take immediate steps for preservation of six lakh old files, of which 5000 files were treated till this date and the remaining files will be treated within next 25 days and shifted to Dogra Art Museum.

He insisted on a double work shift system and said that this will not only ensure quality construction but also result in ensuring transparency in execution of projects.

Mr Charak also sought cooperation of the people, agencies and all qualified professionals in the field in accomplishing the gigantic task of quality constructionm and speedy renovation of the prestigious mubarak mandi heritage complex.

He also issued instructions to the Director of Tourism to release three lakh rupees to the executing agency and manpower for maintaining cleanliness in the area.

Charak instructed the concerned engineers and officers to make a comprehensive plan for its renovation, and a medium term plan for the security and development of tourism in this historical complex.
