Gov accepts resignation of Venod Sharma
Chandigarh, Oct 7: Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today accepted the resignation of Power Minister Venod Sharma from the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government in the state.
Mr Sharma had yesterday resigned from the State Cabinet on moral grounds as the name of his son Manu Sharma figured in the Jessica Lal murder case pending trial in court. He had submitted his resignation to the AICC President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi.
The Chief Minister, on receiving the resignation of Mr Sharma from the AICC President, forwarded it to the Governor for acceptance.
Mr Hooda had stated that Mr Sharma preferred to quit on moral grounds and to uphold the traditions of the Congress Party. He made it clear that Mr Sharma's resignation was not demanded by the Congress High Command.
