Foreign Secretary meets Yechury

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon today held discussions with CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury on various issues, including the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.

Mr Menon visited A K Gopalan Bhavan, the CPM headquarters here, and met Mr Yechury. The new Foreign Secretary discussed with the Left leader, among other issues, India's relationship with Pakistan and New Delhi's role in the Non-Aligned Movement.

Mr Menon remained there for half an hour.

While Mr Menon described the meeting as ''just a courtesy call'', Mr Yechury told mediapersons, ''We deliberated on differences of opinion that had cropped up between CPI(M) and the government.'' UNI PMD HS KN2355
