Five kill in road accidents

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 7 (UNI) Five persons were killed and eight others seriously injured in seperate road accidents in Krishna district during the last 24 hours, according to police here today.

Police said a student riding a motorcycle and driver of a van were killed on the spot in the town. The motorcycle was collided with the van coming in the opposite direction and hit an electronic poll.

The driver of a van died on the spot and two passengers who were travelling in the van were injured. They were admitted to the Government Hospital.

In the second incident, a truck which was proceeding to Nuzvidu from Hanuman Junction dashed against an auto near Machilipatnam-Kalluru highway last night, a 30-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man travelling in the auto were killed on the spot and six others were injured. The injured were shifted to the Eluru Government Hospital.

In another mishap, motorcyclist Y Sekharachari (35) of Jaggaihapet hit a stationary lorry from behind near the Machilipatnam-Pune national highway today. He was killed on the spot, police added.
