Patiala, Oct 7 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today said that a decision on a poll alliance with any party was the prerogative of Congress high command.

''If the high command agrees to enter into an alliance with any likeminded party, we will comply with the decision'', he said while talking to mediapersons here.

''I have not outrightly rejected the pact with the Leftists, though we did have a bad experience of entering into an alliance with them in the last assembly elections and then the Lok Sabha polls'', he added.

To support his viewpoint, he claimed that the supporters of the Left did not vote in favour of the Congress candidates in the last Lok Sabha elections. ''I had rung up the CPI and CPM leaders to bring this matter to their notice but they failed to ensure the communist votes to the Congress'' he said.

When asked whether the Congress would tie up with the BSP, Capt Singh said that it was upto the party high command to decide.

''The winnability factor will be the criteria of the Congress party to give party tickets in the Assembly elections and if anyone among the new entrants has a good chance of winning the election, I will support his nomination,'' he said.
