Baramulla observes complete shut down against excesses by forces

Baramulla, Oct 7 (UNI) Life was crippled today in this town due to spontaneous strike in protest against the alleged excesses by the security forces.

Shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the road in the town and adjoining villages.

Work in government offices and other commercial establishments was affected due to strike.

Thousands of people took to streets last night raising anti security force and anti government slogans. The demonstration continued till mid-night.

People took to streets again this morning protesting against the security forces.

The demonstrators alleged that security forces were harassing people and were not allowing them to offer prayers in the mosque.

They further alleged that about a dozen youths, who were going to offer prayers in the mosque were beaten up by the security forces.

Demanding immediate action against the security forces responsible for curbing the religious rights of the people, the demonstrators said the protest will continue till the guilty is punished.
