Two ULFA men killed in separate encounters
Guwahati, Oct 6 (UNI) Two ULFA militants were killed in separate encounters in Asom today.
According to reports, one militant was killed in an Army encounter on the Dilli bridge on the Namrup-Digboi road, under Borhat police station, at 0430 hours.
The slain ultra had been identified as Debojit Konwar.
Five ULFA militants were involved in the encounter, of which one was killed. The others managed to escape.
In the second encounter with Army and police, another ULFA militant was killed in Dhomdhoma in Nalbari district this morning.
The militant was yet to be identified.
Earlier, three incidents of grenade attack on police stations in Upper Asom were reported last night.
In the first incident at 1915 hours yesterday, a grenade was hurled at the Doomdoma police station in Tinsukia district. Three police personnel and five civilians were injured in the attack.
In another attack an hour later at Namrup police station, a hand grenade was hurled. However, it failed to go off.
In the third such incident last night, a grenade was hurled at the Moran police station premises at 2315 hours.
However, it missed the target and exploded without injuring anyone.
