Newspaper attack: Chhattisgarh CM steps in

Raipur, Oct 6 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today directed strict action against those responsible for the attack, by members of a minority community, on the Bilaspur office of the Dainik Haribhumi newspaper.

After gathering details from a delegation here, he condemned the incident during which panes were shattered and vehicles damaged.

''It is even more unfortunate that the editorial, which allegedly led to the attack, has no objectionable content and I have read it.'' The newspaper's Resident Editor Sanjay Dwivedi, Special Correspondent Devendra Kar and others said that some journalists in Bilaspur had even begun a hunger strike.

Additional Chief Secretary B K S Ray was also summoned.
