Haryana plans Rs 102 crore IT project

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) To bring transparency and enhance efficiency in the administration through IT initiatives, the Haryana government has decided to launch a Rs 102 crore State Wide Area Network (Adhaar) project to connect all government offices upto block level with voice, data and video.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the project which would be launched with the assistance of Central Government would be completed within a period of five years.

The use of this network would be made for improving the inter departmental coordination, providing multipurpose services, video conferencing, making the file movement more easier, e-mail on line application processing and removing any doubts and sending replies.

He said the Department had already received a sum of over Rs 9.95 crore from the Central Government under the e-governance scheme which would be spent for strengthening the infrastructure for effective implementation of these IT initiatives.

He said the Union Planning Department had also earmarked a sum of Rs 10.25 crore during the current financial year. This amount would be incurred by the state government for capacity building and State Wide Area Network. The e-governance road map had already been drafted according to the recommendations of Union Department of Information Technology, he added.

He informed that the state would also set up as many as 1,127 Common Service Centres (CSCs) in rural areas and 100 CSCs in urban areas with public-private partnership which would be made operational by the end of next calendar year.

These centres would facilitate the public in the services such as collection of electricity, water telephone bills, results and provisional certificates, forms and procedures, acceptance of applications for all transactional services, record-of-right (Nakal) deed writing, standard deed templates, e-mail communication and internet surfing, prices of agricultural and essential commodities, information on government jobs, tenders, government instructions, panchayats development works, release of funds, agriculture inputs availability, ration cards and PDS information, public grievances and blood bank information.

He said that likewise another project of Rs 4.25 crore was being implemented in the state under which e-disha and training labs would be set up besides providing LAN Connectivity in all the mini-secretariats of the state.

The e-disha which was already operational in 16 districts of the state and being set up in the remaining four districts provide services such as driving licence, vehicle registration.
