'Gafla' uses BSE building on poster; BSE objects

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Producer Sameer Hanchate of the film 'Gafla' approached the Bombay High Court today following objection raised by Bombay Stock Exchange for using its building's picture, that is symbolic of the share market, on the posters of the film.

The BSE issued a notice to the producer a couple of days ago stating that the use of the tower's photographs for advertising posters of a film with such a title will have a negative impact on the image and reputation of the stock exchange.

Hanchate filed a caveat so that no court order would be passed without him being heard on the matter.

''The film, based on stock market scams and inspired by Harshad Mehta's scam in the 1990's, is but a complete work of fiction,'' the producer claimed, adding that BSE tower is apt for film's subject and therefore used on the posters.

While the film has been released today with all the necessary clearances from the Censor Board, in case the BSE approaches the court, Hanchate is ready to disclose his side of the story.
