Four ATTF rebels surrender to Assam Rifles
Agartala, Oct 6 (UNI) Four hard-core rebels of All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) bid a farewell to jungle life and returned to the mainstream surrendering before the Assam Rifles at Behalabari Camp in Tripura's West District.
According to official sources here today, militants of the banned outfit surrendered before the 15th battallion of Assam Rifles yesterday but did not deposit any arms.
Barring one, all the three were listed dreaded extremists and were active in Champahawar, Asharambari and Tulasikhar area under Khowai sub-division.
Police were looking for them. Police had announced a Rs 50,000 award for one of them Phulukumar Debbarma.
Meanwhile, security forces rounded up 18 tribal youths in connection with the ambush on a bus at National Highway No 44 on Wednesday in which a school teacher was shot dead and three others, including a CRPF jawan, were injured. Though 16 of them were released after interrogation, the other two were produced before the court. It is suspected that they were working as collaborator of NLFT(BM), sources added.
