Flight returns due to bad weather

Chennai, Oct 6 (UNI) A Deccan Airways flight, bound for Port Blair with 162 passengers on board, returned to the airport here today as it could not land there due to bad weather.

Airport sources said the flight, took off from Chennai airport at 0720 hrs and returned at 1130 hrs.

The flight was cancelled for the day after it arrived here.

Meanwhile, the departure of an Alliance Air flight to Port Blair was delayed by four hours after the crew were informed minutes before take off that the weather conditions were bad at Port Blair.

About 104 passengers had boarded the flight. After receiving the message, the passengers were asked to alight. The flight later left at 1100 hrs.

Another Alliance Air flight, which returned here last night with 116 passengers on board, as it could not land in Port Blair, left this morning around 1145 hrs.
