US calls UN Security Council session on Sudan
UNITED NATIONS, Oct 5 (Reuters) The United States called an emergency UN Security Council session today, after Sudan sent a letter warning nations considering troops for Darfur that their action was a ''prelude to an invasion.'' The letter from Sudan's UN mission was sent to more than 50 states who attended a meeting of potential troop contributors to a future UN force in Darfur. The government in Khartoum has so far rejected any UN operation in Darfur.
''Any volunteering to provide peacekeeping troops to Darfur will be considered as a hostile act, a prelude to an invasion of a member country of the UN,'' the letter said.
