Uday, Sachin move into pre-quarters

Vijayawada, Oct 5 (UNI) Uday S Athreya of Karnataka and Sachin I of Rajasthan moved into the pre-quarters in the youth boys singles in the second round of the main draw of the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship being played here this evening.

Athreya defeated Jayanta Sarkar of West Bengal 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-3 while Sahin got the better of his rival Subhadip Das of West Bengal 5-11, 15-13, 8-11, 11-1, 11-5.

In the sub-junior girls singles of the first round in the main draw, Divya Rajaram of Tamil Nadu won with ease over Alisha Alfonso of Goa in straight sets 11-9, 11-9,11-5 and moved into the second round. In the sub-junior boys singles, Pranat Sachin of Orissa pipped Rohit Kumar Rajan of Bihar in the main draw 8-11,12-10,7-11,11-6,11-7 and entered the second round.
