Sub-Inspector arrested under corruption charges

Patna, Oct 5 (UNI) The Vigilance sleuths today arrested a Sub- Inspector for amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Additional Director General (ADG), Vigilance, Neelmani here said Rai had been charged with collecting wealth over Rs one crore during his service period.

He said the Income Tax department too had raided the residence of Mr Rai in 2001 and seized documents showing property of over Rs one crore.

Taking cognizance of the seizure, the Vigilance department initiated an inquiry and found that the police officer had amassed property to the tune of more than Rs one crore during the period from 1978 to 2001.

Apart from this, he owned fleet of vehicles and purchased expensive home appliances.

He said a case related to corruption was registered against Rai.

Later, the arrested police officer would be produced before the special judge, he said.
