Stamps on four endangered birds released

Chennai, Oct 5: The Department of Posts today released a set of four commemorative postage stamps on 'Endangered birds of India' in the denomination of Rs 5 each.

In bringing out the stamps and maxim cards on endangered bird species, the Postal department is celebrating the unique beauty of each species, while spreading the message of conservation, a DoP release here said.

The four species of endangered Indian birds featured in the stamps are Manipur Bos-quail (Perdicula manipurensis), lesser florican (Sypheotides indica), greater adjutant stork (Leptoptilos dublus) and the Nilgiri laughing thrush (Garrulax cachinnans).

The stamps, first day covers and information brochures would be available at all philetelic bureaus and counters, the release added.
