Speed limits for various vehicles fixed on highways

Ahmedabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Ahmedabad city police commissioner's office in a release here said that speed limits falling under its limits has been fixed for different vehicles on Expressway, National highway, state highway and other important roads to check rising number of road accidents.

The following speed limits have been fixed and anyone found violating it is subject to prosecution under the Motor Vehicles Act, the release said.

On Expressway for heavy vehicles 80 km per hour has been fixed as the maximum permissible speed while for a four-wheeler it is 100 kmph. For three-wheeler 40 kmph and two-wheeler 50 kmph has been fixed.

On state highways heavy vehicles should not cross 40 kmph while 70 kmph has been fixed for four-wheeler. For three-wheeler it is 35 kmph and for two-wheeler 45 kmph, the release said.

And for other important roads the speed limits are 40 kmph,60 kmph, 30 kmph and 40 kmph for heavy vehicles, four-wheeler, three-wheeler and two-wheeler respectively.
