SIDCO to set up ''Import-Export Division''

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 5 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today told the state Assembly that the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) would set up an ''Import-Export Division'' under its Marketing Division.

Replying to questions by Ms Ayisha Potti and others, he said the aim of the new division was to explore international market for the products of small scale industrial units in the state.

Mr Kareem said it would also expand its activities to the Information Technology and Telecommunication sectors.

Besides this, the government had also decided to constitute a Quality Control Cell to ensure the quality of products marketed through the SIDCO by small scale units.

He said the government was planning to constitute a comprehensive industrial policy by including certain conditions on the issue and discussions in this regard was on at the government-level.

Finance Minister Thomas Issac said the government would review the existing interest rate, terms and conditions of the loans provided by the Kerala Financial Corporation.
